MageGuild 2.0 Beta

Beta is closed, v2.0 has been released. Big thanks to the beta testers, and please report any more bugs you find!

As of now, I'm opening up beta testing for MageGuild 2.0.

Feel free to download it, test it, and share your thoughts; I want to hear about any bugs you experience, anything that seems out of whack balance-wise, and anything that just plain seems weird or unpolished. If you've got ideas for things you'd like to see, go ahead and toss them my way as well; a few more features may sneak in during the beta, we'll see.

Oh, also, let's keep reports of things in the forum, rather than using the site's bug tracker. I'd like a little less formality for the moment, given how many things we're likely to find.

The current beta version is v1.9.6, and is available here.

(And of course, as per usual, anyone participating in the beta-testing and posting their thoughts will end up with a shiny new badge. :) )

I love the effect you get

I love the effect you get from combining gems with tokens of Laxuno.

The floating eyes feel a little too passive to me now.

Taking enhanced power as your first edge, then learning lightning bolt on level 1 seems like easy mode. It might be worth lowering that spell's damage by 1, but giving it some other small advantage to make it so that's not overboard, like increased accuracy or a little bit better chance to paralyze. You could lower its damage by 1, and then have the first elementalist edge give +2 damage instead of +1 to make it weaker in the early game without affecting its endgame performance, but I'd have to get an elementalist up to the late game to test it out and see how that would affect things.

Running the newest version the first time works with no problems. Every subsequent time gives me a message saying:

"Your options file is from an incompatible version of MageGuild; resetting to defaults...."

Given the depth of floating

Given the depth of floating eyes, I'm OK with them being a little overly passive; I'd rather that than a mob that causes instant death if you get line-of-effect with it in sight of another creature. :) I'd like to adjust the AI to get a little more granularity there, but I'm still shaking out bugs from the last AI overhaul.

Options bug is fixed in the dev code.
