Resizing game screen to fit smaller screens

I'm running MageGuild 1.4 on my laptop and I have a terribly tiny are to move and look with my character.

The options screen is so large that I have to induce a bit of a glich (with resizing) to press the OK botton.

Perhaps there could be a "Minimum GUI" mode, for smaller computer screens or if the player simply wants to see more of the gamefield while in graphics tile mode?

Yes, I think it would be helpful even on non-small monitors to make a minimum-HUD mode, with status simply given in numbers in the corner of the screen.
That, and the options screen needs a scroll slide.

Good ideas, both of them. The scroll-bar for the options screen is relatively simple. The other thing is tougher, but should still be doable. I'll add them to the list.
