The next big release for MG will be 2.0. I've got a 1.4.1 about to drop in the next day or two, but it's primarily bug fixes. 2.0 is where all the new content is going. The timeline for this version is unsettled, but will probably be some distance out.
Some things that will be happening:
- AI rewrite - Mostly, this is a code-maintainability thing, but it will have some implications for gameplay, including allowing more complex mob behavior (hit-and-run, changing tactics when mobs change form, etc.)
- More spells - Every school will be getting a new spell; the current scale of 1-4 ranks will not change, this just means that each school will have two spells at a given rank. Whether they all end up with an extra spell at the same rank or not is still up in the air.
- More mobs - Several new mobs will be added; they will explore some territory as-yet unused, and will take advantage of the new AI stuff.
- Terrain improvements - Terrain types (lava, magma, water, etc.) will matter more, new terrain types will be added, and terrain will appear in more ways than just pool-in-the-center-of-the-room.
- More special rooms - New types of special rooms will be included, some taking advantage of the new terrain stuff.
- More edges - Some new edges are going in, with the end goal of supporting more styles of play; some of the new edges will be pet-related, for example.
That's the stuff that definitely is happening. What I'm curious about is, what do you guys want to see? Are there items/mobs/spells you wish you could do more with? What is lacking, and what should fill those voids? Are there parts of the game that are boring, too simple, etc?
Let's get some ideas flowing, here.
Well...
I had a lot of complaints on the old board and everything.
For now, I'll just add a simple convince:
- Package Mage Guild and the editor in one zip file and one folder.
Hmm...I must be misunderstanding something, then. For 1.4, MageGuild and the editor are in the same folder, the same zip...?
Yeah I kind of forgot about that. Sorry.
No worries. :)
